Here are this week’s results, with changes in yellow. CIA takes its first “miss” of the year with Kyuji Fujikawa, just as we expected. So far, the only Achilles’ Heel for CIA is dealing with pitchers returning from injury. Since this is an experiment that has to adapt to results, I am open to any suggestions on how to deal with them that do not involve ignoring anyone.

Pitcher CIA Result Comments
Jim Johnson Auto Hold A perfect 14-0
Andrew Bailey Hold Injured, again.
Junichi Tazawa Auto Lose Just like that he gets the role and blows it. Still has zero saves. But skills are elite.
Koji Uehara Auto Lose Like Tazawa the mere fact that he has zero SV = “auto lose” but skills are elite. Will be an interesting week for both.
Addison Reed Auto Hold 11/12 in SV/SVO
Chris Perez Hold Still looks just fine but not in the top tier and shoulder issues raise some concern.
Jose Valverde Lose Loses “auto hold” with a BS and his skill set is second only to Brandon League in terribleness. Is that a word?
Jose Veras Hold One good week brought him back to safety, as we said last week
Greg Holland Hold BB/9 starting to be problematic but still safe.
Ernesto Frieri Hold With Madson back he is at risk. He gets a “hold” based on SV/SVO-skills say he is a “lose.”
Glen Perkins Auto Hold Rapidly becoming the most underrated closer
Mariano Rivera Auto Hold What else is there to say?
Grant Balfour Auto Hold Skills are an issue so far, with 4.40 BB/9 but 6/6 in SV/SVO
Tom Wilhelmsen Auto Hold The Bartender keeps mowing them down
Fernando Rodney Lose Even when he converts a SV he is walking at least one batter every time
Joe Nathan Auto Hold 11/11 in SV/SVO
Casey Janssen Auto Hold Still has not walked a batter yet.
National League
JJ Putz Lose Out for the season and avoids becoming CIA’s latest victim by skin of his teeth
Heath Bell Hold Skills are back in spades so far, with a K/9 over 11 and BB/9 below 2.0. No concerns right now.
Craig Kimbrel Hold Three BS but only blemish is one extra HR. K/BB is over 6.00
Kyuji Fujikawa Hold Ends up as CIA’s first “miss” as CIA struggles with injured returning pitchers
Kevin Gregg Auto Hold Still perfect and skills are top notch so far. No worries in short term
Aroldis Chapman Auto Hold Superficially there is no concern, but he has had a few bad outings with no BS
Rafael Betancourt Auto Hold A perfect 9-9 but skills are awful right now.
Brandon League Lose Loses “auto hold” with a BS and his skill set is literally the worst among all reviewed pitchers
Steve Cishek Hold Hangs on “hold” and a strong BPV are good omens, a 20% HR/FB is the only blemish
Jim Henderson Auto Hold Only 2.4 BB/9-control may have taken a big step up
Bobby Parnell Auto Lose  Keeps his “auto lose” status from last week.
Jonathan Papelbon Auto Hold K rate is down but BB rate is miniscule and no BS
Jason Grilli Auto Hold Your league leader in Saves
Huston Street Lose Skills are poor right now, and he has blown a save. But one conversion makes him “auto hold” so not really at risk.
Sergio Romo Hold 12/14 in SV/SVO falls below “auto hold” but is fine.
Edward Mujica Auto Hold This year’s Romo is rolling along and is one of CIA’s better successes.
Rafael Soriano Auto Hold Rumors of his demise apparently were exaggerated.
Carlos Marmol Kelvin Herrera??
John Axford Kyuji Fujikawa
Mitchell Boggs
Shawn Camp
Joaquin Benoit
Phil Coke??
Bruce Rondon??
Joel Hanrahan
