Added and Dropped will switch formats this week as any free agent moves are completely need-based will little consideration to rest of season overall value. To those reading, congratulations are in order because your teams are still in the hunt. One week is still enough time to make up some serious ground if the right categories are attacked and the correct moves are made.
Fourteen teams play the final week without any off days.
American League: Baltimore, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City, LA Angels, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Texas, Toronto
National League: Arizona, Atlanta, Milwaukee, New York Mets, Philadelphia, San Diego
Based on the expected pitching matchups Tampa, Texas, Atlanta, and Philadelphia are set up for the best offensive weeks. Useful hitters that may be available include:
Shallow Leagues: Leonys Martin (83%), Domonic Brown (81.9%), Evan Gattis (65.1%), James Loney (61.8%)
Deeper Leagues: Mitch Moreland (13.5%), Yunel Escobar (10.2%)
Hail Marys: Jordan Schafer (3.1%) – 21 SB in 255 PA, Cody Asche (2.8%), David DeJesus (0.5%)
Batters to Avoid: B.J. Upton, Carlos Ruiz, Kelly Johnson, Matt Joyce, David Murphy
Starting Pitching streamers, presented with the caveat that these projections may vastly change as the days go by:
Tuesday: Shallow – Mike Leake vs. NY Mets, Michael Wacha vs. Washington
Deep - Danny Salazar vs. Chicago White Sox, Tyson Ross vs. Arizona, Dan Straily @ LA Angels, Todd Redmond @ Baltimore
Wednesday: Shallow – Ricky Nolasco @ San Francisco, Kyle Lohse @ Atlanta, Jon Niese @ Cincinnati
Thursday: Deep – Zach McAllister @ Minnesota, Robbie Erlin vs. Arizona
Friday: Shallow – John Lackey @ Baltimore, Rick Porcello @ Miami, Ivan Nova @ Houston, Yovani Gallardo vs. St. Louis
Deep – Scott Kazmir @ Minnesota, Dillon Gee vs. Milwaukee
Saturday: Shallow – Sonny Gray @ Seattle, Chris Archer @ Toronto
Deep – Andrew Cashner @ San Francisco, Corey Kluber @ Minnesota, Yordano Ventura @ Chicago White Sox, Joe Kelly vs. Chicago Cubs
Sunday: Deep – Jose Quintana @ Kansas City, Todd Redmond vs. Tampa Bay, Marco Estrada @ New York Mets
Mark Melancon blew Friday’s save thanks to three unearned runs, Jason Grilli saved Saturday’s game and may have his job back.
Edward Mujica will not pitch for a few days because of fatigue. The whole Cardinals bullpen has worked hard. Trevor Rosenthal and Carlos Martinez are the names to watch.
Pedro Strop will likely take over for Kevin Gregg.
