The group of 2014 leaders seems more sustainable this week, but expect plenty of turnover as the season is still young. Many of the leaders against left handed pitching do not even have 50 plate appearances yet.

Top Batters vs. RHP

Seth Smith: 5/20 vs. Kevin Correia, 5/21 vs. Phil Hughes, 5/22 vs. Jeff Samardzija, 5/23 vs. Edwin Jackson, 5/25 vs. Jake Arrieta

**His .390 BABIP is helping out, but his other indicators are solid and he owns a career 124 wRC+ against righties. He is the Pick of the Week.

John Jaso: 5/20 @ Jake Odorizzi, 5/22 @ Chris Archer, 5/24 @ R.A. Dickey

**The other half of Oakland’s catching duo is heating up, his wOBA has risen 250 points in May while his strikeout rate dropped from 30.4% to 11.8%.

Ike Davis: 5/23 vs. Jordan Zimmermann, 5/24 vs. Stephen Strasburg, 5/25 vs. Doug Fister

**His overall OPS is up over 50 points since joining the Pirates

David Murphy:  5/20 v.s Justin Verlander, 5/21 vs. Max Scherzer

**Posting a .390 OBP and 1.00 BB/K against righties

Matt Joyce: 5/22 vs. Sonny Gray, 5/23 vs. John Lackey, 5/24 vs. Jake Peavy

Adam Lind: 5/21 @ Clay Buchholz, 5/24 vs. Jesse Chavez

Lonnie Chisenhall: 5/20 vs. Justin Verlander, 5/21 vs. Max Scherzer

**A 0.22 BB/K, .110 ISO, and .453 BABIP are not great indicators for future success

Miguel Montero: 5/20 @ Adam Wainwright, 5/21 @ Michael Wacha, 5/22 @ Lance Lynn, 5/23 @ Bartolo Colon, 5/24 @ Zack Wheeler, 5/25 @ Rafael Montero

**2.11 BB/K so far vs. RHP. That is a big jump over his career 0.59 level, but he also has a high in line drive rate and low popup rate in the split.

Top Batters vs. LHP

Scott Van Slyke: 5/22 @ Jon Niese, 5/23 @ Cliff Lee

Brandon Crawford: 5/20 @ Franklin Morales, 5/22 @ Jorge De La Rosa

Marlon Byrd: 5/23 @ Clayton Kershaw

Derek Norris: 5/21 @ Erik Bedard, 5/23 @ Mark Buehrle

Mike Olt: 5/22 @ Eric Stults, 5/23 @ Robbie Erlin

**His low BABIP on the split suggests he is a very strong play

Sean Rodriguez: 5/20 vs. Drew Pomeranz, 5/21 vs. Tom Milone, 5/25 vs. Felix Doubront

**Ben Zobrist’s injury opens up more playing time for the utility man

Alfonso Soriano: 5/22 @ Chris Sale, 5/23 @ John Danks

Jed Lowrie: 5/21 @ Erik Bedard, 5/23 @ Mark Buehrle

Austin Jackson: 5/23 vs. Robbie Ross

**His BB/K against southpaws was never over 0.60 but it is 1.67 in 2014

***Baltimore has yet to reveal its starting pitchers for next week, leaving games against Pittsburgh (20, 21) and Cleveland (22-25) uncertain.  The Orioles feature a predominantly right handed rotation.
