NEWS: Cobb threw five shutout innings against the Yankees.
Fantasy Impact: Alex Cobb appears to be in control so far this Spring. Cobb has a 1.29 ERA in 14.0 innings with 18 strikeouts and one walk. His performance so far all but locks up a roster spot for him in the starting rotation for the 2013 Tampa Bay Rays. Add him to your late round pitching targets come Draft Day.
NEWS: Brennan Boesch released by Tigers
Fantasy Impact: This should help guarantee at-bats for Andy Dirks in left field. Boesch suffering an oblique injury early in Spring Training and the signing of Torii Hunter in the off-season made him expendable. Looks like Andy Dirks may not just a platoon player after all in 2013; if he can stay healthy it sounds like he may be headed for full time status in terms of at-bats. Dirks is a must own in AL-only leagues and reasonable home run upside to nab a mixed league roster spot late.
NEWS: Julio Teheran is the front-runner for the last spot in Braves Rotation
Fantasy Impact: The right-hander has a 1.29 ERA while striking out 18 batters over 14.0 innings this spring. He appears to have all but won the final spot in the rotation. A Strikeout artist in the minors, Teheran is someone to have in  your draft queue late in mixed league fantasy baseball drafts.
NEWS: Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports Nick Markakis has been diagnosed with a slightly herniated disc in his neck
Fantasy Impact: The injury is estimated to take 7-to-14 days to heal. The Orioles are optimistic that he will be available for Opening Day. Once a solid mid-round selection, Markakis may be a huge risk on Draft Day as neck injuries tend to take longer than the estimated time to fully heal.
NEWS: Big Papi to start the year on DL
Fantasy Impact: David Ortiz‘s heels have the Boston Red Sox putting him on the DL to start the season. Mike Napoli figures to be the primary beneficiary while Big Papi is out. This only slightly increases Napoli’s Draft Day value as he battles to stay healthy playing First Base should help.
